Machinecraft has introduced a Quick Tool Loading System for its PF1-X series vacuum forming machines, dramatically reducing mold changeover time and increasing production flexibility for customers running multiple products on a single machine.
The Challenge of Mold Changeover
In traditional vacuum forming, changing molds between production runs can take 30-60 minutes or more, especially on large machines. This downtime directly impacts production efficiency and makes short production runs economically challenging. For customers who need to produce multiple products on the same machine, frequent changeovers can consume a significant portion of available production time.
How the Quick Tool Loading System Works
The Quick Tool Loading System uses a standardized bolster plate system with hydraulic clamping. Molds are pre-mounted on bolster plates that can be rolled in and out of the machine on a rail system. The hydraulic clamps automatically secure the bolster plate and connect all vacuum, cooling, and sensor lines through quick-connect fittings. The entire changeover process takes less than 10 minutes.
