Outdoor Spa & Jacuzzi Shells

Premium acrylic spa shells with flawless surface quality

Machine: PF1-3030Material: Acrylic-capped ABSRegion: India
Outdoor Spa & Jacuzzi Shells

The Challenge

A leading bathroom and wellness brand needed to manufacture premium outdoor spa and jacuzzi shells in-house. The shells required forming areas up to 2800 x 2800mm with deep draws for seating contours, jet recesses, and plumbing channels. The acrylic surface had to remain optically perfect after forming — no stress whitening, crazing, or surface defects.

The Solution

Machinecraft supplied a PF1-3030 vacuum forming machine specifically configured for large spa shell production. The key to success was the zone-controlled heating system and servo-driven table with programmable speed profiles — critical for forming acrylic without surface damage.

Process Flow

1

Acrylic-capped ABS sheet loaded and clamped

2

Precision zone-controlled heating (critical for acrylic surface quality)

3

Pre-blow to equalize sheet thickness

4

Vacuum forming over aluminum mold with cooling circuits

5

Controlled cooling to prevent stress in acrylic layer

6

CNC trimming for edges, jet holes, plumbing cutouts

7

FRP/polyurethane reinforcement spraying (post-forming)

The Outcome

The installation enabled in-house production of premium spa shells with flawless acrylic surfaces. The zone-controlled heating and servo-driven table speed profiles were critical to achieving the deep draws required for spa seating contours without compromising surface quality.
